The campus garden at Penn State Berks serves as a vibrant hub for sustainable practices and community engagement. It intends to foster a deeper connection to the environment, promote healthy living, and educate students about gardening, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Through hands-on experiences, students can learn about farming techniques through scanning accessible QR codes for planting and harvesting tutorials, composting, and the importance of local food systems. The garden also serves as a space for relaxation and reflection, offering a tranquil retreat from the academic hustle. By integrating sustainability into campus life, the garden contributes to a more eco-conscious and resilient campus community, inspiring students to become environmental leaders both on campus and beyond.
The garden was officially created and open to Penn State Berks students on April 17th, 2023 featuring five different themed planters of various vegetables, fruits and flowers selected by students, staff and faculty at the school.
